Grizzlies rookie trolls Doc Rivers after upset victory over Bucks

It's safe to say Doc Rivers' tenure as the Milwaukee Bucks head coach hasn't gotten off to the start anyone had hoped or expected — except for the team's recent opponents.

The Bucks have gone 3-7 under Rivers since he replaced Adrian Griffin, who was fired in a surprising move after leading the team to a 30-13 record to begin the year.

Milwaukee's most recent loss provided plenty of concern and turned more than a few heads around the league, as the Bucks began their All-Star break with a 113-110 loss to the 20-36 Memphis Grizzlies.

Memphis is drastically undermanned due to injuries, a list that goes far beyond just star guard Ja Morant, and it's turned to a young core that includes members of their 2023 draft class. And one name that's emerged as a popular one with the fanbase is rookie second-round pick GG Jackson, a forward from South Carolina.

While Jackson has quickly made a name for himself since joining the rotation, his comments after the victory over the Bucks will surely add a few more fans to the early bandwagon of the 6-foot-9 forward. When Jackson was asked after the Grizzlies win how they were able to hold on against the Bucks late, Jackson took a sarcastic jab at Rivers and the Bucks as a whole.

"You know, great credit to Doc Rivers and the Milwaukee Bucks," Jackson said after the game.

Jackson and the injury-riddled Grizzlies stunned the Bucks, and after going up early in the game before Milwaukee tied the game up at halftime, Memphis pulled away in the third quarter and held on down the stretch.

Jackson was a big reason for the victory and tied fellow forward Ziaire Williams as the team's leading scorer with 27 points off the bench.
Jackson wrapped up a solid night offensively by shooting 10-of-17 from the field and an impressive 6-of-10 from three-point range. For the Bucks, this loss marks their second in a row heading into the All-Star break and their fifth loss in the last seven games.
