Phoenix Suns’ $161 Million Bradley Beal Problem Goes Viral After Playoffs Sweep
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

After getting swept in the first round by Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves , the Phoenix Suns will have to deal several problems in the offseason. Along with Kevin Durant’s frustration, the front office will have to find a way to resolve Bradley Beal’s massive contract in the coming years.

Just recently, the Suns got swept by Minnesota in the playoffs this year. In Game 4 of the series , Edwards put on an amazing show when he tallied 40 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Karl-Anthony Towns made 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaden McDaniels added 18 points along the way.

Even with the loss, Devin Booker still had an amazing game when the Suns’ All-Star shooting guard dropped 49 points on 61 percent shooting from the field. Durant finished the game with 33 points while Beal had a disappointing performance of nine points and two rebounds.

The loss served as the final nail in Phoenix’s season, one that saw the team use up all of its assets to acquire Beal last year. The win, on the other hand, served as the Timberwolves’ first playoff series victory since Kevin Garnett last played with the team during the 2003-04 campaign.

Phoenix Suns’ Massive Bradley Beal Problem Goes Viral After Playoffs Sweep

Getting a core of Booker, Durant, and Beal isn’t cheap at all, as evidenced by all the pieced and draft picks Phoenix spent to get the former Washington Wizards star in a trade last year. As it stands, the Suns’ woes regarding Beal is only bound to get worse, as seen in a post by StatMuse on X:

“Reminder that the Suns have to pay Bradley Beal

$50 million

$54 million

$57 million

in the next 3 seasons,” StatMuse tweeted.

As it stands, Beal has a no-trade clause attached to his massive contract to go along with the franchise’s lack of draft picks until 2030. This means that for Phoenix to revamp the roster significantly, they’ll have to trade either Durant or Booker to get back the necessary pieces or assets to improve.

Without a doubt, Beal has underwhelmed in his first season as a Sun. If this situation doesn’t get fixed, Phoenix may be looking at a disappointing stretch in the coming years.
